Reports of Lavaca river flooding claiming water reached the Moore hotel were unfounded. Observations show the river overflowed its banks but did not approach the high water mark of past years, contradicting neighboring town rumors.
Burglars struck Waelder on Wednesday night taking about 200 dollars worth of tubes and accessories from the Waelder Garage. The Nitschman Garage was also entered with only small items taken.
Mrs. John Havel Sr. of Shiner Texas died suddenly at her home on Thursday. She is survived by her husband three sons John Jr Edward and Joe Havel and one daughter Mrs F J Sigert all of Shiner. Interment was in the Catholic Cemetery Saturday morning.
Willie McKnight 26 son of Mr and Mrs J F McKnight of Hallettsville was killed in an automobile accident at Rosedale Mississippi on Sunday April 18. The remains were shipped to Victoria for burial.
The Lavaca County Democratic Executive Committee chaired by D A Paulus will hold its first yearly meeting in Hallettsville on Saturday May 1. August W Janszen of Moulton is the precinct six committee man.
