Chairman John F. Miller reports 514 Lavaca county farms received 1988 conservation checks since February 10, 1940. The late payments total $15,798 due to county and state committees concluding farms did not knowingly over plant cotton in 1988. G. Jaehne, Secretary.
By Tuesday evening April 9 the committee has 502 applications for free mattress material. Of these 456 are approved 82 rejected temporarily and 19 held for more information. Families urged to apply early to ensure sufficient cotton order. Eighty four bales of cotton and 8400 yards ticking ordered with 48 bales and 4800 yards ticking to be ordered this week. G. E. The Moulton Lutheran Ladies' Aid held its regular monthly meeting at Luther Hall on Thursday April 4. Committees were named for Flower Sick Membership and Hostesses. The next gathering is scheduled for Thursday May 9.

United Gas Pipe Line Company reports a survey of about 3000 employees showing most injuries are abrasions bruises and contusions with eyes fingers and backs most affected. Accidents peak 8 10 am and 12 2 pm and Wednesdays see the most incidents. The study aims to improve safety and protect workers life and limb.
