Lavaca County ACA Committee Secures Lime-Spreading Vendor
Last Thursday the Lavaca County ACA Committee voted to hire a lime spreading vendor. The vendor will purchase lime and spread it on cropland and pasture land at about 2.50 dollars per ton, with farmers paying after government purchase order charges. Lime is spread at 1000 to 1500 pounds per acre to release minerals and boost yields, benefiting cattle herds with rickets. The ACA office will book lime and start deliveries once 50,000 pounds are covered by purchase orders. Farmers with sandy soils are invited to inquire at the ACA office.
