New Volunteer Fire Truck For Moulton Community
Moulton Volunteer Firemen added a self funded fire truck built to State Board of Insurance specs. It sits on a 1970 International 1 ton chassis with a 500 gallon water tank and 9 HP portable pump delivering 100 GPM at 70 psi with its own torque and electric starter. The rig carries 300 feet of 1 1 2 inch hose 150 feet of 3 4 inch hose a 12 foot roof ladder and a 24 foot extension ladder plus extinguishers and tools. Assembly was done by local firemen at Beran Garage and Fire Station using nights Sundays and holidays.

The regular post meeting led by Commander Rud Braeuer on April 2 at 8 p m covered reports on the Stag Supper and Birthday Celebration. A 24 table delivery to the Legion Home was noted, a $25 donation to the local FFA and an ad calendar for the high school band approved. Mrs Louis Hohmann of Moulton died Thursday April 3 1975 in Shiner Hospital at age 79. She was born January 9 1896 in Moulton and funeral services were held April 5 at 2 00 p m in Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Julius Holm officiating. Interment followed at Moulton City Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Max Moeller Jr and others.

Three-Vehicle Crash in Moulton Causes Damages
On Friday April 4 at 12 20 p m a 1973 Chevrolet driven by Roberta Motal and a 1968 Ford driven by Lillie Dornak both of Moulton were involved in a collision at North 4th and Arnim Streets. The Ford sustained heavy front damage while the Chevrolet had medium damage to the right front. A 1963 Ford Station Wagon driven by Daniel Pavlicek of Moulton, which stopped for oncoming traffic, also sustained front damage.

Charles Fred Mang 82 a longtime Gonzales resident died early Monday April 7 1975 at Brackenridge Hospital Austin. He was born near Moulton on July 8 1892. Survivors include his wife. Mang obituary continues on page 2.

In Moulton 118 registered voters chose a mayor and two aldermen for two years. Jack Sharar won 88 write in votes for mayor. Aldermen Val Hinze and Ervin Patek were elected with 95 and 109 votes respectively. James Kolar did not seek reelection. Hinze and Patek replace outgoing officials.

Two Car Collision at West Second and Cockrill Streets

Tragedy on Highway 77: 18 year old Wenske dies in fiery crash
Richard James Wenske of Port Lavaca, 18, died in a Sunday early morning single vehicle crash on Highway 77 two miles south of the 111 junction, near Hallettsville. The 1973 Ford Gran Torino burned at the scene and initial license plate tracing suggested the victim’s identity. further details follow in the next column.
