Firemen Draft Plans at Moulton Meeting

The Moulton Volunteer Fire Department met at the American Legion Hall Monday night. Minutes were approved, bills were paid, and the annual dance advertising is being distributed. Delegates to the Gulf Coast Firemen Association district convention in Goliad on May 8 were named, with alternates listed. The group thanked Henry Fehrenkamp for ladders donated to the department and voted to thank A. & J. College for the training school run by Chief G F Williams.

Wood Home Destroyed By Fire At Russell Hill

The old Wood home occupied by Mr and Mrs Joe Hearn near Russell Hill seven miles northwest of Moulton burned Monday morning. They lost all household goods and the smoke house with some bacon. The fire, believed caused by a defective flue, struck the roof. The house stood as a local landmark.

Car Enters House In Shiner No Injuries Reported

A sedan with five occupants driven by a student driver left Highway 95 and crashed through a fence before mounting a porch and entering the home of M. J. Krueger in Shiner. No injuries, cat escaped with minor scratches and one lamp broken.

Mrs. H. W. Duelberg Buried Monday

Mrs. H W Duelberg died Sunday April 5 at 12 30 AM at the Muti Hotel Cuero where she lived with her daughter Mrs H C Zingmann and son J H Seekamp Funeral services were held in Cuero and interment in Flatonia City Cemetery She was born December 19 1855 in Cedar Fayette county and aged 80 years 3 months 17 days She married twice first to A N Seekamp then to H W Duelberg She leaves six children ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren with several stepchildren surviving Also a brother two sisters and numerous relatives The Eagle extends sympathy to the family.

Trustee Election Held Saturday in Millton

Only 48 votes were cast in the trustee election held Saturday in Millton. Erwin Oehl won with 88 votes and Roy Kotzet had 30. John M. Meiners received 27 votes and F. C. Smith 1. Election officers were George von Lienen, judge George Baur, and Gus Wachtendorf, clerk.

Paving Contract Let for Yoakum Highway 72 Bypass

Division Engineer M B Hodges announced the 2.2 mile stretch west of Yoakum on Highway 72 will be paved with the project let to H B Zachery of Laredo. Grading and bridge work on the by pass were finished years ago and paving is due to start within 80 days at a cost of 64480 97 dollars.

James H. Strause of Hallettsville, cotton statistician, reports under date April 3 that Lavaca County ginned 14 178 bales and to be ginned from the 1935 crop, compared with 19 893 bales from the 1934 crop.
