An election in the Moulton Independent School District Saturday asks voters to raise the special tax from 10 to 25 cents per $100 of property value. The piece argues education enhances community welfare and urges residents to support higher school funding as a prudent financial and social investment.
Mrs Laura Valenta hosted the 42 Club on Thursday afternoon. Four tables were arranged for players and ten games were played with Mrs Fred Krause winning the high score and claiming the club pin. Refreshments of cake and ice cream were served to club members and guests including Mesdames Brunkenboefer Fehrenkamp Parr Kotzebue Tomasko Quebedeaux Menefee Haltom Guenther Krause Rypple and guests Wek Garbade Willie Garbade Max Mueller El Boehm Aston Kolar Edmund Meyer and Misses Guenther Quenther Parr Guenther. Next meeting will be with Mrs John Bruckenhoefer.
School Club will meet Friday April 13 at the Sam and Will Moore Institute. Members are urged to attend as officers will be elected and other important business discussed.

The Moulton High School Literary Society met Friday March 30 1917 with vice president Hertha Papacek presiding as president was absent. The program included A story by Willie Pundt Dialogue A Farm for Sale by Harvey Sternenberg August Krau se and Pauline Janszen Long Yankee Doodle by School Jokes by Willie Mueller Dialogue Pulling Sam's Tooth by Elvira Buescher Minnie Pundt Roosevelt Etlinger Fred Mueller and Emil Papacek. The meeting adjourned.
Houlton business men anticipate the Seventeenth Annual Trade League Excursion of the Houston Chamber of Commerce. The special train bearing Houstonians will arrive in town at 7 15 in the morning and stay fifteen minutes.
The Eagle acknowledges an invitation to Komensky school's closing and graduating exercises on Monday April 9 at 1 p.m. in the afternoon.
Mr and Mrs R B Papacek visited in Yoakum on Sunday visiting friends and viewing local sights in the Texan town.
Joe and John Ruppel of Seguin visited with their parents Prof and Mrs Martin Ruppel and returned home Thursday. Emil Schindler of Dilworth spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs Hy Schaer. Frank Seidenberger had a surprise birthday party on Wednesday night March 28. A large crowd enjoyed refreshments and well wishes for a long life. Easter celebrations bring smiles and plans for dances next Monday. Several attended Otto Renkin’s birthday party at Sunset Saturday night. Mrs Geo Kruse had her birthday celebration Tuesday with dancing into the night. Eddie and Willie Kleihge and sisters Mary and Rosie visited the Haecten family Sunday. Mr and Mrs Jim Mikes visited friends near Green School Sunday. Geo Kruse and daughter Frieda shopped in Shiner Saturday. A norther morning breeze prompts quick departure.

Frank Tomasko moves to Shiner to work at Shiner Drug Co. A baby girl greeted William and Mrs Schodde on March 24. Ed Boehm Jr starts brick veneer residence with John Mueller on wood and Charles Newman on brick. project will enhance Moulton's appearance.
Mrs Pustejovsky and her children returned home Tuesday from Sealey after visiting her sister Mrs Brandel. Mr W H Bennett of here celebrated his 102nd birthday Monday March 16 and remains in good health.
The Yoakum Times reports Mrs G H Niemayn has recovered well after an operation at Yoakum Hospital. She is up and about and doing fine, according to friends.
Emil Korges came home from Poughkeepsie where he pursued an advanced accounting course and plans to join an audit firm after visiting. Gus Jaroszewski returned from Austin to aid his wife who will see an eye specialist for treatment after a prior facial burn affected one eye.
Biardstown school teacher Miss Lucy Bell Cobb informs her parents that the school has been allotted 400 state aid dollars. Superintendent commends her work as a county Interstate Scholastic League meeting is to be held there as the school stays aligned with progressive measures.
On Tuesday April 3 the Priscilla Club held a meeting hosted by Mrs Henry Etlinger and daughter Miss Kila. Members enjoyed crocheting tatting and embroidery while coffee and cake were served. Guests included Mrs Henry Krause and Q L Booting with Misses Emma Bohnenkamp and Elsie Templin. The next meeting is set with Mrs J I Jaeggii on Wednesday April 18.
