A tornado struck the Forrestal Trailer Park at the Great Lakes Naval Base near Chicago injuring 18 and wrecking 12 mobile homes. It touched down about 35 miles north of Chicago and also damaged homes in Waukegan and North Chicago as storms swept through northeastern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

Forty four voters registered in Coal City this week
County Clerk Tom Parks reported that 44 people registered to vote in Coal City Thursday evening. The total for the county’s special registration week reached 102, with registration closing at 8 p.m. at Parks office in the courthouse. Regular hours or deputy clerks remain available through Oct. 9 for eligibility ahead of the Nov. 7 general election.
