Three persons were wounded early today in a gun fight on Chicago's Southwest Side. Patrolmen Steven Barnas and Daniel Conlan went to an alley after a woman reported seeing two men loading pistols. Officers spotted a man running with a small caliber revolver and ordered him to stop.

A U S Post Office inspector to Morris checked five mail pouches found along the Rock Island railroad east of Morris near a boy scout camp. Seals broken packages opened contents removed. The bags likely came from a westbound piggyback train from South Suburban Station to Nebraska. Deputy Sheriff Marketti with locals recovered the pouches.

Holding Tank Fire at NPC Oil Plant

President Nixon praises a new test facility at Hanford for promising abundant inexpensive nonpolluting energy.
