The century old horse drawn pumper once named Shabanee will headline Morris events on September 25 and 26. It was purchased in 1868 for 7425 dollars, rebuilt by local volunteers, and may be the country’s last working example.

Change schedule for flu shots Grundy County

Grundy County residents will await revised dates for swine flu vaccinations. Barbara Hasslinger of the Illinois Extension Service says the Illinois Health Department set dates but later changed them. Shots require a special gun and can be given only when available, with the state prioritizing metropolitan areas. No new Grundy County dates have been announced.

Morris Planning Commission discusses rezoning and curb on trailer court

The Morris Planning Commission debated reclassifying property at 129 E Chapin St from commercial to residential to allow a dwelling for a potential buyer. Arson Attempt Discovered at Vacant Morris Apartments

Police on patrol at about 9 am Wednesday found an arson attempt behind a Morris apartment at 14092 Division. An iron rod with burned plastic and a pile of burnt material were found, with officials including Fire Chief Hextall and Mayor Davidson notified. Four injured in one car crash on Tabler Road

Four people were injured when a car driven by David Underhill lost control north of Minooka on Tabler Road. The vehicle struck a utility pole, was demolished, and three others treated and released at St Joseph Hospital Joliet. Underhill faced a speeding ticket and court date.
