A 1964 Oldsmobile driven by Miss Linn sustained 800 dollars in damage in a collision on I 80 with a semi truck that sustained no damage. Kaver was not injured.
The 55 voice West Towns Chapter chorus, Illinois District Champions and ranked eighth internationally, performs at Center School gym in Morris with a 7 30 p.m. show featuring a double quartet from Morris Sweet Adelines and audience participation. Admission is via a Corn Festival button from over 100 Grundy County businesses.
Five people including Morris county residents were treated and released from St. Joseph Hospital Joliet after a two car collision on U S 6 at Ridge Road. Joseph E Bickel 53 of Morris suffered a cut lip and other injuries while Thomas L Maitland 20 of Lockport had minor cuts. Three others Craig Boyer 22 Dennis Garrison 27 and Don Stamp all Joliet were injured with varying degrees. Maitland was cited for failure to yield and a second driver Raleigh V Robinette 25 Joliet faced a similar citation as the crash near the E J and E tracks caused one vehicle to skid before impact.
General Electric received permission from the Illinois Pollution Control Board to conduct preoperational testing at the Midwest Fuel Recovery Plant east of Morris. GE aims to begin receiving spent nuclear fuel for storage pending AEC authorization and plant operation next year.
The forecast calls for mostly cloudy and cool conditions with a chance of brief showers and highs in the mid 60s. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low in the 40s, and Friday remains cool with highs 50 to 65. Wednesday recorded a high of 72 and a low of 48 at the Dresden Island Locks and Dam. At 7 am today the temperature was 51 degrees.
The Morris Corn Festival offers a 7 p.m teen dance with a two hour program led by vocalist Mrs. Jerry Belt and a 9 30 p.m to midnight adult dance. An 18 piece band directed by Roger an of Earlville High School will perform with musicians from Northern Illinois University and communities including DeKalb Seneca Pontiac LaSalle Ottawa and Mendota.
The Grundy County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved three planning commission appointments to three year terms and set up another for the Zoning Board of Appeals. The change to tax billing to show tax distribution was delayed one year due to timing.
Kendall County Board of Supervisors approved the 1971 township levies for Big Grove Bristol Kendall Lisbon Little Rock Na Au Say Oswego Seward and others. Details include general town and road and bridge levies, poor and cemetery funds, special bridge and library allocations, and consent to rate increases up to .33 cents with hard road rates around .167. A separate agenda item covered a Rock Creek Road aggregate project with Davis Construction winning the bid at 74 654 50 and a Pitney Bowes postage meter demonstration.
The Morris Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously approved two variance requests to permit two car garages. Richard Swore sought a side yard variance for a 23 foot garage from the curb while John O'Brien requested a front yard variance for his garage. Chairman Sereno and four members voted yes with Wilfred Dix present as zoning officer.
