Loyola University will sponsor a re-enactment of the Marquette Joliet and an Indian guide voyage from Morris to Chicago. Ten killed as airliner crashes near New Bedford
A Northeast Airlines DC3 en route to New York with 24 aboard crashed in Apponagansett swamp near New Bedford Massachusetts in dense fog. The pilot, co pilot and eight passengers died. Fourteen passengers and a stewardess were injured. Rescue teams took three hours to reach the scene and bodies were recovered from the swamp despite improvised bridges.
