A Grundy County coroner's jury, after 15 minutes deliberation at the courthouse, ruled Elbert C. Fields died from crush injuries when his car collided with a Rock Island freight train at Durkee's Crossing on Brisbin Road about 4 45 p.m. on July 19.

Tax distribution aims and September release for taxes
County treasurer Pauline Coleman expects the first tax distribution to taxing bodies near the end of September. Four tires ignite on semi at Bedford site causing warehouse fire

Eleven Firemen Injured in Explosion in Indiana Center
Eleven firemen were injured, two critically, when a fire at a building supply center in Elkhart ignited a 300 gallon gasoline storage tank and caused a blast.
