Minooka Fire Station Groundbreaking Planned
The Minooka Fire Protection district held a Wednesday groundbreaking for a new 125 by 60 foot steel frame station on almost two acres near the E J and E Railroad on West Mondamon Street. The site includes 60 by 85 feet for equipment storage and 60 by 40 feet for offices restrooms and recreation with plans for more space and parking. Professional Construction of Shorewood will build both foundation and structure for 56875 dollars. The district covers about 50 square miles and is served by twenty five firefighters with six pieces of rolling equipment.

Morris Community High School held an official mock election with 469 votes cast from 800 students. Gerald Ford beat Jimmy Carter 280 to 189 for national race while James Thompson led for governor 334 to 101 and William Scott won attorney general 306 to 110.

Youths injured in one car crash near Nettle School Rd
Three youths were injured in a single vehicle crash on U S 6 one mile west of Nettle School Rd Wednesday at 11 05 p m. John Davis 19 Pamela Hogfoss 19 and Lance Lewis 20 refused treatment though reportedly in pain. The 1968 Chevrolet rolled multiple times into a ditch 396 feet from the road and was towed from the scene by Duane Olson's service station.
