Bloodmobile falls short goal in Grundy County drive
Ninety eight donors gave blood with eleven rejections at the Red Cross Blood mobile held Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Grundy County. The drive aimed for 155 pints as twenty four volunteers contributed one hundred hours and five registered nurses worked. Donors included ninety five from Morris and small teams from Coal City Dwight Mazon Ransom Gardner Joliet Bourbonnais. Women from Bethlehem Lutheran and men from Federal provided lunch.

A block long Model Industries building at Van Emmen and Houstin Streets Yorkville burned Tuesday afternoon, likely starting in the paint department. About 40 employees were present at discovery around 3 p.m. No injuries were reported. Damage estimates were not available. The company, owned by a Chicago firm, makes metal tool boxes and boxes for Simplicity Clothing patterns.

Oldest Will County log cabin moved for preservation
The 1834 Will County log cabin built by Peter and Mary Brown was dismantled in Grundy County and stored in Lockport to prevent deterioration. Planned as the start of an historical village, the cabin awaits a new site, with funds raised at the Will County Historical Society.

First aid classes begin Monday in Grundy County
