Accident claims life of John W. Alderson Jr.
John W. Alderson Jr., 44, of South Wilmington, died at the scene after a 1968 Chevrolet ran off Illinois 47 near Grinter Road, possibly due to sleepiness. The coroner cited crushing injuries. Survived by wife Loretta and six children, with funeral services at Patterson Funeral Home.

Vandalism Hits NPC Rail Cars at Rock Island Tracks
Police reported vandalism to Northern Petrochemical railroad cars at the Rock Island switch tracks on Lincoln Street.
