Punch card voting to debut in Grundy County election

Actor Gig Young and bride found dead in New York

New York police report that Oscar winning actor Gig Young and his bride of three weeks were found shot to death in their Carnegie Hall area apartment. It appears Young killed his wife then himself with a .38 snubnose revolver in the master bedroom, in the Osborne Apartments.

Kendall County Board District II race fields three incumbents

Three candidates will be elected November 7 to Kendall County Board District II. Incumbents Robert Cherry Dorothy Montgomery and Thomas Charest run unopposed for the three seats. Cherry, 60, longtime Oswego area farmer and former state livestock leader, chairs the board. Montgomery, a 20-year secretary, serves as county officers committee chair and holds zoning and land use roles. Charest, 59, appointed last year to fill a vacancy, is longtime All-Steel supervisor and Kendall County Heart Association president. District includes Oswego Na-Au-Say Lisbon and Seward townships.

Three Accidents Injure Two In Grundy County

Two people were hurt in three county accidents investigated by the Grundy County sheriff. Ester Kelly age 59 of Joliet was listed in fair condition at St Joseph Hospital Joliet after a crash on Illinois 47 south of Stonewall Road when a northbound car swerved and he veered into a ditch. His 1978 Chevrolet owned by Illinois Bell was demolished. David Eltrevoog 23 of Joliet refused treatment after a Pine Bluff and Winterbottom Roads crash. he was ticketed for driving in the wrong lane and posted bond. A third crash near Pine Bluff and Winterbottom Roads injured nothing else. a deer struck James Kenney’s 1977 Dodge, killing the deer.

Judge Malmquist Seeks Six Year Retention On Ballot

Thirteenth Circuit Judge Robert W. Malmquist 57 of 605 Vine St seeks another six year term in the November 7 general election. He must receive yes votes on 60 percent of ballots. The circuit covers Grundy LaSalle and Bureau counties with Morris Ottawa and Princeton as trial sites. Endorsed for retention by the Grundy County Bar Association, he was not recommended by the Illinois State Bar Association in a September poll of 108 respondents. He and wife Mary Alice O Connor have three sons, and he served in the Army Air Force 1942 46. He belongs to several civic groups including Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Grundy County Bar Association.
