Larry Larsen's Bicentennial Pencil Drawings Debut at Local Bank
The Grundy County National Bank opens an exhibit of 11 Larsen pencil drawings of Morris and Grundy County scenes in its Mini Theatre as part of a Bicentennial Art Collection. Works include the Carnegie Library and Grundy County Jail with captions, and some prints will be lithographed for sale.

Artist Larsen Remembered For Early Talent At Morris High
Morris community recollects Larry Larsen, artist behind Grundy County National Bank Bicentennial collection. Instructor Joe Corsello recalls Larsen excelled in pottery painting and drawing and inspired peers as a top student at MCHS class of 1963. Larsen later studied art at Illinois State University and works as a rad waste foreman at Commonwealth Edison Dresden plant. He is married to Bette Everness with four children.

Snake dancer barred from bringing snake to San Diego eateries

Ferry collision sinks George Prince killing nine in Mississippi River
A commuter ferry carrying over 80 workers collided with the tanker Frosta in predawn darkness near Destrehan Louisiana. The George Prince capsized and sank, nine bodies recovered and about 50 missing. Coast Guard divers searched the wreck for survivors as the river remained closed.
