Two Men Die In Pine Bluff Road Crash
Two men from rural Morris died after a collision on Pine Bluff Road east of old Pine Bluff Road. Robert D. Nichols 44 and William R. Zweeres 24 were in separate cars when Zweeres right wheels dropped off a 3 inch new base causing a skid into Nichols westbound car. Nichols died at Morris Hospital about an hour after admission from internal injuries and a fractured leg while Zweeres died at the hospital from head and internal injuries. The crash damaged both cars beyond repair and occurred near the road’s curve. Authorities included Deputy Robert Coleman and Sheriff Richard Pierce with others listed. Nichols, a World War II veteran and former Federal Paper Board and Kerns Furniture employee, survived by his wife Mildred and four children. Funeral plans were announced.
