Grundy County United Fund Opens Campaign With $82900 Goal
The 1976-77 Grundy County United Fund Campaign begins with a goal of $82900 benefiting twelve agencies including Boy Scouts Girl Scouts Catholic Charities YMCA USO 4 H Illinois Valley Sheltered Workshop Salvation Army Grundy County Senior Services AIDS Pleasant View Luther Home Ottawa and the Grundy County Red Cross. Campaign runs through November 19 with weekly noon luncheons at the Morris Holiday Inn and a kickoff meeting held at the Grundy County Courthouse. Last year’s drive topped its goal by 13000 with Caterpillar employees a leading contributor. If funds exceed goal the extra is shared among agencies.

Murdered Woman Identified Efforts Underway In Grundy County
Grundy County detectives pursue identification of a young Black woman found shot in a Grundy County ditch along US 6 near the LaSalle County line on October 2. Investigators plan to send fingerprints to the FBI and issue a nationwide missing persons message while considering exhumation if needed. The woman is believed to be about 18 and has not yet been identified through the Illinois State Police Crime Lab or Chicago police.

Morrisman seeks seat in Illinois House district race
Democrat Ray Christensen of Morris along with Republican Edward McBroom of Kankakee Democrat Charles Pangle of Kankakee and Republican George Ryan of Kankakee seek the four seats in the Illinois House from the 43rd district. Christensen is an animal health inspector for the Illinois Department of Agriculture and former Lisbon Locker Plant owner.
