Two Die in Separate Auto Accidents Near Gardner and Warrenville
In Will and Grundy counties two weekend fatalities occurred. Douglas Hummels a 29 year old Gardner resident died at the scene when his 1969 Plymouth was broadsided by a car on Illinois 129 at Coal City Road. Thomas R. Sharboro a 20 year old Warrenville resident died after his 1966 Oldsmobile left Interstate 80 and struck a pillar near an overpass. Mrs Nellie Davault 50 of Manteno and Patrick Doren 57 of Dwight were injured in the first crash. Funeral arrangements are pending for Hummels. services for Sharboro are planned at St Irene's Church Warrenville.

Rain did not dampen Minooka centennial events as 600 to 700 attended an ecumenical service at Minooka High School. A weekend of parades, street dancing, contests, and a large beef barbecue drew families, with 100-year traditions celebrated by the Lions Club, Masonic Hall, and local schools.
