Massive search ends for Hillside officer missing near Mazon River
The four day hunt for Anthony Raymond near the Mazon River in Coal City ended with volunteers left and the search paused. Grundy County Sheriff Olson and Hillside officials said the team will reassess and decide on next steps while the overall search remains possible if new information emerges. Over 1,000 searchers, plus horses, bloodhounds, and Army personnel, took part. a bloody handkerchief matched Raymond’s blood type but no conclusive link was found.

Four treated after two car collision at Illinois 47
Four people were treated and released at Morris Hospital after a two car crash at the Goodfarm Road Illinois 47 intersection. Maggie Estes 25 of Dwight and Diana Bush 16 of Mazon suffered neck and shoulder injuries. Clarence Weston 28 of Mundelein had facial abrasions. Tom Piersma 21 of Palos Heights had left knee and shoulder injuries. All were ambulanced to Morris Hospital.

Minooka girl returns home after heart surgery
Dawn Hayes seven year old daughter of Amos and Mrs Hayes of Route 1 Minooka returned home from Wyler Children's Hospital Chicago where she had open heart surgery two weeks earlier. Doctors were amazed by her rapid recovery exiting intensive care in 24 hours and walking the ward in three days. Donations totaling five to six hundred dollars came from collection boxes and a bake sale. The Shady Oaks Trailer Court held a friendship box of daily gifts while she was hospitalized. Dawn plans to return to Minooka Grade School for second grade in about a month.
