Harvest steady but below last year's bumper yields
Agriculture adviser Al Pilch of Grundy County Ex tension Service says this year's harvest will be about 20 percent under last year's exceptional crop. About half the soybeans are in, with south of the river yields 35 to 40 bushels per acre and 30 to 35 north of the river, due to rainfall differences. Weather woes included dry spells from July to September and late frosts.
