Council passes Lakewood Estates agreement and annexation

About 50 residents attended the Morris city council meeting to back a pre annexation deal for Lakewood Estates. The council approved the ordinance requiring land dedication or school district payments, 7 to 0, with Alderman Stine dissenting on related zoning issues. The annexation, the associated agreements, and a plan to seek bids for a new public works addition were also approved.

Crash Kills Braidwood Woman in Illinois 47 Collision

Mrs Kenneth Arlene Greer 31 of Braidwood died at the scene in a two vehicle crash near Pine Bluff Road on Illinois 47 north of Morris. Her husband Kenneth and their 5 year old son Kirk were in the car. Truck driver Jimmy Anderson Rowe 24 Oklahoma City was ticketed for improper lane use. Mrs Greer is survived by husband four children and a grandmother.

Snow Covers Grundy County with Chilly Light Flurry Forecast

A thin snow cover fell in Grundy County early today following a chilly rain that dumped 1.22 inches in the 24 hours ending 7 a.m. at Dresden Dam. Temperatures are expected to dip with possible flurries while six area accidents and tire damage incidents are reported, and two workers were hospitalized after solvent fumes at Reichhold Chemical Co. in Morris.

Coal City Board Discusses Drainage and Pla nning Measures

Village commissioners reviewed drainage in two sections with Chamlin and Associates reporting on the Pompano Beach subdivision sewer system, including a test showing minimal water loss. They will inspect an old storm sewer for blockages and study a water problem on E Chestnut Street while planning 60 street light decorations and a Woods First Addition plat referral.

Yorkville council extends police station remodel plan

The Yorkville City Council authorized expanding the police station remodel on East Hydraulic St to add office space costing about 1200 dollars. Contractor is John Kot. The project aims for completion around year start and includes front office updates and walling off a storage area for a new office.

City Hall Bond Proposal Fails In Local Referendum

Canvass of the Oct 28 city hall referendum at Monday night’s City Council meeting shows no change from Oct 30 unofficial returns. Voters total 1096 with 683 against and 407 for the 300000 bond for a new city hall. Official ward totals and six spoiled ballots noted.
