The Grundy County Board voted to appropriate about 2.18 million dollars for fiscal 1972 73 an increase of roughly 300000 over 1971 72. Final totals will follow auditor finalization with public inspection planned at the courthouse before the November 28 board meeting.
An Illinois Commerce Commission hearing on the Durkee crossing near Brisbin Road Chicago to determine permanent action was continued to 10 a.m. November 14. The case follows a July 19 accident when Elbert C. Fields of Northern Petrochemical Co. was killed after his car was struck by a freight train. ICC previously ordered permanent barricades on August 23. Local attendees included Saratoga Township officials and Saratoga School board members.
Representatives of the Illinois Division of Highways from District 3 in Ottawa will meet Morris City Council at 7 p.m. in the First National Bank community room to discuss possible agreements tied to the Illinois 47 project. District engineer Robert Blasius said the talks are routine.
The Morris Daily Herald reports three representatives will be elected Tuesday from the 43rd district under cumulative voting. Four candidates compete, two Republicans and two Democrats, with one seat won by each party and two from the other.

Two others Ronald L Rodriguez 18 and Gary Leon Long 19 faced charges for illegal possession and firing of fireworks with $25 bonds and a November 15 court date.
Voters on Tuesday will decide on issuing 815000 dollars in bonds to fund a 68 bed addition to the Grundy County Home on Quarry Street. Public meetings are set for 7 30 p m Thursday at the courthouse and 7 30 p m Friday at Coal City Village Hall.
Frederick J. Kramer of Hospers Iowa faces a possession of a controlled substance charge after a tractor trailer left Interstate 80 near Illinois 47 killing sixty sheep. Kramer was taken to Morris Hospital for observation after the crash and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Dwight Democrat Tim L Hall challenges 77 year old Republican Leslie Arends in a bid for the redefined 15th District seat. Arends seeks a 20th term, holds Whip position since 1943, and serves on Armed Services. Hall, a former teacher and educator author, promotes education and constitutional writing with AFL CIO and NEA backing.
