Three Students Arrested as Chicago University Protests Grow

Chicago police arrested Kevin Mahoney Bruce Kresnoff and Eric Deutsch among 39 total arrests over four days of anti draft sit ins at Roosevelt University downtown. The trio were found in the eighth floor administration offices at 10 30 p m after a warning by the building superintendent.

The Morris Center School announces its annual Science Fair this Friday in the gym with over 100 entries. Entries are grouped into biological physical and earth sciences with judging Friday afternoon and ribbons awarded. The public is welcome with no admission charge.

The U S Weather Bureau expects fair mild weather tonight with lows in the 50s. Thursday will be sunny and warmer with highs in the 80s. Friday foresees continued fair warm conditions. Collins Weather Station recorded 72 high and 51 low Tuesday. At 9 a m today the station was 69 and at 11 30 a m the Morris business district reported 72 degrees.

Explorer 32 launches from Cape Kennedy into upper atmosphere

Explorer 32, a 492 pound satellite, blasts off on a Delta rocket from Cape Kennedy to map charged hydrogen helium nitrogen and oxygen in Earth's upper atmosphere. It will study short term disturbances from solar storms and aid future moon rocket procedures during a busy seven day launch schedule including Gemini 9 plans.

Special Council Meeting Tuesday Discusses Water Issues

Mayor Aage Hansen confirmed the City Council met in private Tuesday night to consider water and sewer requests for a proposed subdivision in Hatcher's Woods. All aldermen except Lester Johnson attended. results were not disclosed. A special meeting is set for 7:30 pm next Tuesday to discuss several water problems.

Riot police break up Buddhist march in Saigon

Police backed by paratroopers dispersed antigovernment demonstrators in Saigon after Mayor banned a large Buddhist march. Monks and nuns were arrested or injured as tear gas and machine guns were used, while other cities saw peaceful protests and military actions continued nearby.

Eight Injured In Frankfort Explosion

A series of explosions and chemical fires destroyed the S and S Linktop Co plant south of Frankfort Illinois injuring eight workers, one seriously. The blasts at 7 05 am shattered three brick buildings as drums of glue and solvents exploded and lacquer storage caught fire. Fire chief Lynn Kohlhagen said emergency crews arrived quickly and two buildings were already in flames. Duane Browell 26 of Wilmington was most seriously injured with severe burns. his father George 52 of Joliet was treated for shock.
