Viet Nam issue dominates Oregon senate race

First Phase of Hennepin Mill $150 Million

Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp plans a 150 million dollar first phase finishing plant near Hennepin Illinois. The initial facilities will be galvanizing and cold rolling with production expected early in 1968. The plant will employ at least five million dollars annually in payroll and stimulate satellite industries while positioning near a waterway and interstate access.

Grundy County to Build 75-Bed Nursing Home in Morris

County home committee and architects outlined plans for a proposed 75 bed Grundy County nursing home at Quarry and Clay Streets in Morris with a $750000 bond issue on June 14. The project includes Hill Burton funds, future expansion wings, isolation rooms, therapy departments, and a 20 year operation requirement.

Truman May Visit Israel for Center Dedication

Roosevelt University Arrests for Sit In at University

Twenty five Roosevelt University students were jailed for resisting removal after a sit in protesting the policy of sending class standings to draft boards. Eighteen were charged with resisting arrest or trespass and arraignment was set. President Weil defended free expression but urged order.

Second Patient With Artificial Heart Dies at Methodist

Wal ter L. McCans 61 and the hospital reported the second patient to undergo a partial artificial heart implant died after complications in the past 48 hours. He had been conscious after surgery but returned to chest surgery to remove fluids and halt chest bleeding.

Dr Barry Seng to Head Grundy County Health Board

Dr Barry Seng elected chairman of the new Grundy County Health Board at a courthouse meeting. The eight member board named Arthur Allaben vice chair and Mrs Jean McCoy secretary for a one year term ending July 1 1967. County board chairman Neeleen Ness announced appointments for three two and one year terms and a future meeting on financing. The board will establish a health department to administer home health services under Medicare starting July 1 for Social Security recipients aged 65 and over.

Jerry Callahan of the Small Business Administration opened a temporary office in Morris fire station at 8:30 a.m. to assist flood victims with disaster loan applications. He said three people spoke with him that morning and more were expected in the afternoon. He stressed volunteers are not forcing anyone to borrow.

Wayne A. Johnson aged 38 of Marseilles was moved to St Luke's Presbyterian Hospital Chicago after a Wednesday morning crash on U S 6 at Stockdale Road. Ernest Gordon of 1205 N Liberty St was released from Morris Hospital this morning.
