Illinois School Problems Commission backs higher per pupil aid
The Illinois School Problems Commission voted to recommend raising the state guarantee for a common school pupil from 400 to 550 dollars a year, adding about 408 million dollars to Gov. Ogilvie's 1970- budget. The panel suggested shifting costs partly onto the state and noted changes would push aid toward 686 million annually when including special education funds.

Leadingham, a Republican mayoral candidate, faced charges including driving without a license, reckless driving, and illegal liquor transport, with pending bad-check and small-claims actions totaling over 1,200 dollars.
