President Nixon urged Congress to add 100 million dollars in the 1974 budget to boost nutrition and related services for Americans over 65. He tied the request to welfare reform and social security changes, and outlined five priority elements to aid the elderly including income protection and better nursing home care.
The White House says President Nixon will reveal his plans for filling the gap on the Pay Board and its procedures after meeting at 3 p.m. EST with the Cost of Living Council. He decided on the plan Wednesday night following AFL-CIO leader George Meany and two others leaving the panel.
Minooka Community High School board voted unanimously to permit married students Jennifer Castello and Judy Fierce to apply for extracurricular activities. The decision followed a three week-old ACLU suit alleging discrimination for married students. The student affairs committee recommended approval after a closed hearing, noting attendance and scholastic records since marriage.

A 20 year old Lombard youth was seriously injured by a .22 caliber bullet while target shooting with friends near Shady Oaks trailer park. The shot occurred when rifles collided as two youths pivoted, injuring Robert B. Ellis.
