Courthouse Fire Destroys Old Will County Building in Joliet
An 85 year old Will County Courthouse, abandoned and being demolished, caught fire today from a wrecker’s torch. No injuries were reported as workers guided firefighters to the third floor where the blaze began. The building adjoins the new courthouse and will be cleared for a park once removed.

A Chicagoan, pilot R. M. Alev, 37, veterinary doctor, was injured when his private plane crashed into the corner of a home about a mile from Joliet airport. Two residents inside the home escaped injury. Alev is in fair condition at Joliet Hospital. Cause undetermined.

An 8-year-old Minooka boy Charles Johnson escaped serious injury after being struck by a car driven by 26-year-old William Ivy on the service road south of Interstate 80.
