Morris city census puts population at 8435
Mayor Hendrickson reported Morris now lists 8435 residents after a January city census, 241 more than the 1970 official figure. He noted 13 unread letters from residents who felt they were not counted and forwarded them to the Census Bureau. Coal City considers public input on hiring a doctor
At a Monday meeting Commissioner Gerald Pierard announced a public session at 7 30 p m Monday in Coal City to gather suggestions on acquiring a village physician. Dr Roman Smyk is presently the only physician. The board also backs reusing an old dog pound and seeks a dog catcher applicant. An ordinance update sets bus stickers at 4 and cars 2 50 trucks 3 or 4 by weight. A zoning variance to allow three homes on Buchanan Subdivision lot 10 block 5 was denied. Murphy Movers' 218 bid to move the Bradford house was approved. The McCreary family vacated the residence with a June 1 removal deadline.
