In Panama City Florida UPI reports that Exxon Texaco Standard Oil of California and Mobil with Saudi oil minister Sheikh Ahmed Yamani plan a possible final signing this week to transfer the four US partners remaining Aramco shares. Saudi Arabia holds 60 percent. The four firms seek guaranteed continued access to Saudi oil at equitable prices.

Dismissal of Drug Charges In Joliet Case
Robert Chiavatero of Joliet had charges for possession of marijuana and amphetamines dismissed in Grundy County Circuit Court after co-defendant Mark Lawrence admitted the drugs were his and Chiavatero did not know of them. Lawrence received one year probation and a $500 fine. Police stopped Lawrence’s car for a faulty muffler at 3 30 a.m. August 25.

Plano ex police chief loses dismissal appeal
Former Plano Police Chief Marvin Westby lost his appeal against the Plano Police and Fire Commission. DeKalb County Circuit Judge Carl Swanson ruled for the commission on all counts, citing incompetence and violations of rules. the case was moved for change of venue from Kendall to DeKalb County. Westby served nine years with Plano and was dismissed last fall.

House sells for 25300 at Grundy auction
Robert Bates of Mazon bought a two story frame house at North and Center Streets for 25300 at a Grundy County Regional Board of School Trustees auction. The dwelling has two apartments and a two car garage and was originally purchased by the Mazon Verona Kinsman district for teachers. Five to six bidders attended with a 15 percent down payment required and the rest due on deed delivery. Auctioneers were E L Butch Olson and Dick Olson.

Coal City house fire destroys residence on Walnut Street
A flash fire destroyed the Julius Liebersma home at 15 Walnut St in Coal City early Sunday. Fireman E. E. Lifsey said the blaze started in the kitchen of the one story frame house and gutted it within minutes. The cause was undetermined and the couple escaped with nothing. Property value not yet listed. Fire department arrived at 1 51 a.m. and remained about 90 minutes.
