Four to Ten Year Term for Banks in Infant Death
Marion Lee Banks, 19, was sentenced by Associate Circuit Judge John S Masseion to a minimum of four years and maximum of ten years in the Illinois State Penitentiary for the involuntary manslaughter of his 4 month old daughter Michelle Lee. The case stemmed from the March 8 incident at Mel Kay Trailer Court in Diamond. Banks had pleaded guilty after originally facing murder charges.

New Baptist minister to lead First Baptist Church in Morris
The Rev. Brian A. Nelson will preach the first time as minister at First Baptist Church Morris this Sunday July 11. Nelson, born July 25 1941 in Lonoke Ark, comes from Galveston Ind and previously led Paragon and New Winchester churches in Indiana. He and his wife Mary have two young sons. Sunday ends interim pastor Rev Kevin G OConnor’s term dating from December 13 1970.

Fire destroys resort town in Manitowish Waters
A grease fire starting in the Village Grill kitchen wiped out six businesses in Manitowish Waters and damaged the surrounding commercial district within three hours.
