Illinois House OKs property tax rebate plan in election year move
The Illinois House passed a Democrat led property tax rebate bill 89 to 0 with Gov Thompson opposing the measure as a political ploy. The plan targets homeowners earning 25 000 or less and paying 3 1/2 percent of income in real estate taxes for rebates up to 650 dollars under a complex formula.
