Wildlife groups halt Everglades land lease near West Palm Beach

The National Wildlife Federation and Florida Wildlife Federation block a proposed 35 year lease of 10 000 acres near Lake Okeechobee. Attorney General Shevin pushes a public hearing after noting closed door talks violated state procedures. A July 10 hearing in West Palm Beach will review U S Sugar Corporation s plan to lease the Haley Lands wildlife area.
