Illinois Supreme Court OKs parochial pupil transportation

The Illinois Supreme Court ruled that providing bus transport for parochial school pupils does not violate the 1970 constitution's church separation clause. The decision upheld a Cook County circuit ruling in a case from School District 142 regarding bus seating for St. Damian and St. Christopher students. The court termed bus transport a public purpose and allowed nonpublic pupil bussing without violating state law on state aid.
