Parklake Village plan revises layout for density challenges
General Planning and Resource Consultants propose moving two of four six story buildings to the north side of the Parklake Village site east of Lisbon Road and north of George St. The changes aim to create better access points and a more functional esthetic while retaining lakes and open spaces. Commissioners approved moving ahead with a meeting to review the new proposal with Morris Development Corp. president Leon Apanas and the commission.

Carbon Hill 22nd Annual Homecoming Parade Sunday
A 1 p.m. Sunday parade will highlight Carbon Hill's 22nd annual homecoming with bands marching units and floats. The festival extends Sunday with amusement rides fireworks and a sky diving show and earlier a Wednesday softball tournament concludes Friday. Proceeds fund a new village hall pavilion park restrooms street maintenance and baseball lights.

Braceville Firefighter Treated After Smoke Incident
Sam Huston of the Braceville Fire Department suffered smoke inhalation and received oxygen after firefighters were called to Dick Goley's trailer at 9 p.m. Wednesday. Goley had been frying hamburgers on the stove, fell asleep, and the pan was destroyed. Mrs. Goley was at work.

Dense fog causes multiple accidents on Interstate 55
Numerous crashes occurred at 7 30 a m today on Interstate 55 south of Arsenal Road near the Santa Fe tracks as dense fog reduced visibility to near zero. State Police District No 5 Joliet reported injuries and motorists were placed in St Joseph Hospital Joliet for treatment.
