Eisenhower Stable After Fifth Heart Attack At Walter Reed
Former President Dwight D. Eisenhower remained alert and in good spirits as doctors reported no recurrence of pain since the episode on Saturday night. The 77 year old five star general’s heart rate and respiration stayed steady and no signs of heart failure appeared. Mrs. Eisenhower was at the hospital as the public bulletin said the general spent a comfortable night with stable condition. He had suffered five heart attacks since 1955 and the latest attack delayed his planned June 24 return to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
