Library to Start Summer Schedule at Morris Public Library
The Morris Public Library will implement a summer schedule starting next Monday. Librarian Mrs. Gordon Gregg said hours run through June, July, and August with the adult reading room open 2 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Saturdays run 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the adult room. Children’s room mirrors these hours except weekday closing is 8 p.m. instead of 9 p.m. The library closes Thursdays and Sundays.

Mazon Youth Injured in Farm Accident
Phillip Burkhart a 19 year old from Mazon was seriously injured Wednesday morning when a hose on an aqua ammonia applicator broke while he pulled it behind a tractor. He suffered a bilaterial fractured pelvis possible internal injuries and eye burns. He was found by his father and brother and transported to Morris Hospital after initial treatment in Mazon. He had just finished his freshman year at the University of Illinois and was home for summer vacation.

Kansas Tornado Toll Soars Across Eastern Kansas
Tornadoes ripped through Topeka and other eastern Kansas towns on Wednesday night injuring nearly 600 and leaving at least 13 dead. Boy suffers minor injuries in street accident
Eight year old Steven Wilson was riding a bicycle when he started into an intersection on Waverly and Liberty Streets at 12 35 a m. Edward F Maskel drove north on Liberty Street and struck the bicycle as the boy jumped and fell. Police Chief Donald Ward investigated and took Steven to hospital before returning home.
