Verona Fire Leaves 10 Homeless Family Displaced
A family of ten lost their Verona area home Saturday night after a fire in a 1% story frame house three miles southwest of Verona. Firefighters reported eight children ages five to eighteen discovered the blaze at 9 15 p.m. Flames broke through the roof, but by 11 30 p.m. the fire was under control with damage mainly to west walls and to water and smoke spread. The cause remains undetermined.

Morrisman killed in Grundy County traffic crash
The third Grundy County traffic fatality in five days occurred at 11 36 p m Friday. Darrell E Enger 22 of 511 Vine Street died as a passenger in a 1963 Ford Falcon driven by John H Weppler 25 of 618 East Jackson Street. Weppler lost control on Nettle School Road skidding about 250 feet into a utility pole.

Two planning gatherings are scheduled this week to organize activities for the Illinois and Michigan Canal Days event on the June 24 weekend. Morris residents will elect officers for one year at 7 30 p m Tuesday in the First National Bank community room and discuss cleanup proposals with the Chamber of Commerce. A second meeting Wednesday at 6 p m in the Manor Inn will coordinate canal activities from Chicago to LaSalle and consider Army Reserve help with equipment and manpower. Dinner reservations for Wednesday require a Chamber call.

Nevada recovers full ransom from skyjacker and seeks more
Authorities in Nevada recovered the entire 200000 ransom from a hijacker who parachuted from a United Air Lines jet Friday night. An additional 803000 ransom from two other skyjackings remains sought as federal efforts target 500000 from Algeria. Suspects include William Holder 24 and Mary Karkow 20.

Acquittal of Angela Davis Sways Marin County Case
