Morris city settles bromine suit with $750 fine
In an agreement with the Attorney General's office, Morris will pay a $750 fine for operating a landfill without a permit. A charge of knowingly receiving bromine was dismissed, as city officials could not be proven aware of the dumping. The EPA filed the suit June 3, 1976, after bromine leaked from a Consolidated Freightways truck onto I-55 near Dwight and Scully Rd.

Continue hearing for Cleveland in arson case
Steve Cleveland 37 of 1252 Park Blvd. is set for June 14 in LaSalle County Circuit Court on arson aggravated battery and aggravated assault charges. He posted 5000 bond and was arrested May 19 after allegedly dousing a man with diesel fuel and starting a fire at a residence near U S 52 LaSalle Kendall County line. The victim Raymond Blum says Cleveland also struck him with a bat and threatened him. Cleveland resisted at the LaSalle County Jail where Sgt. Ken Lowe suffered a broken hand during a scuffle.

Two Women Hurt As Car Rolls On I 55 Near Odell Rd
A car driven by Ruth Lyndstrom 19 of Chicago lost control on temporary I 55 three miles north of Odell Road Livingston County at 3 55 pm. The vehicle rolled twice after hitting dirt, injuring Lyndstrom and Grace Collett 21 of Ferguson Missouri. Lyndstrom remained at St Francis Hospital Peoria for treatment after initial care at St James Pontiac. Collett was treated and released from St James Pontiac. Damages to the 1971 Ford Mustang were listed at 500 and the car was towed by Maxs Standard Odell.
