Joliet Man Killed in Four Car I-80 Crash Near Minooka
A Joliet man, John J. Nussbaum, 28, died of multiple injuries after a four car crash on Interstate 80 one mile west of Interstate 55 near Minooka in Will County at 12 40 a m He was pronounced dead on arrival at St Joseph Hospital Joliet The inquest was planned His wife Beverly 28 and their three sons survived uninjured The crash involved Nussbaum’s eastbound van and his wife’s car colliding then rolling into westbound traffic causing subsequent impacts The other drivers 28 year old Joseph Murdock of Moline and 52 year old Samuel Noll of Morris suffered no injuries The Nussbaum vehicles sustained heavy damage Funeral services were planned for Joliet The tragedy comes during Memorial Day weekend as road deaths rose with multiple other accidents reported across Illinois

Turkish hostage raid ends in capture and rescue
Police stormed the Turkish apartment holding 14 year old Sibel Erkan rescuing her after a three minute gun battle. Two teenagers Huseyin Cevahir and Mahir Cayan were wounded with Cayan fatally hit. The pair were sought for the kidnapping and murder of Israeli Consul General Ephraim Elrom.

Woman Hurt In Boating Mishap Near Seneca Illinois River
A Sauk Village woman, 19 year old Michelle Connelly, is listed in good condition at St Joseph Hospital Joliet after being thrown from an eastbound boat on the Illinois River one fourth mile east of the Seneca bridge. Her husband Michael Connelly drove the injured to safety and a cruiser fled the scene. John Connelly was the only other passenger aboard the 18 foot craft. In a separate incident 29 year old Robert Dudek of Bellwood injured his shoulder water skiing and treated at Morris Hospital.

Kendall County Society Plans to Save Yorkville Brick House
The Kendall County Historical Society meeting will discuss saving the brick house from the Ivan Anderson farm north of Yorkville on U S 34. Jack Purcell offered to donate the house and allow it to stay, needing at least 10 000 dollars to start, with 3 000 on hand and 2 650 pledged, leaving about 6 500 needed. A committee was named to work out details with Purcell and members are urged to provide information on local historical sites to preserve them before development erases them.
