Seven Year Old Struck by Van Near Morris Pool
A seven year old Morris boy was injured when a van struck him near the Morris Swimming Pool at 1 48 PM Tuesday. Shane Eisenbeis of 307 Susan Circle was reported in good condition in St Joseph Hospital Joliet ICU. Driver Joel Ferris 22 also of 307 Susan Circle said he had dropped off his children and did not see Shane cross the street. He stopped after witnesses alerted him and Shane was transported to Morris Hospital then transferred to St Joseph Hospital.

Oswego couple awarded 408750 in out of court settlement
Oswego Illinois residents Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Burkhardt will receive 408750 from a settlement over a 1973 Prairie du Chien accident. Burkhardt, who stood on a fire engine during Ye Olde Fyre Engine Muster, lost both feet after the engine was struck.

Youths learn and work at parks
The Youth Conservation Corps funded by the federal government operates in 23 state parks in Illinois. In Gebhard Woods and Goose Lake youths age 15 to 18 spend five weeks learning through hands on tasks and visits to plants and power facilities. The first group built a retaining wall and footpath. the current group pours sand for a pole bridge while shelters may follow along the Illinois Michigan Canal. A Tuesday night storm brought varying rainfall across Grundy County from 1.21 inches at Dresden Lock and Dam to 0.15 inches in Gardner, with Morris getting 0.5 to 0.61 inches. Northern areas fared better than southern ones, and power outages were limited to about 15,000 Edison customers at peak.
