Body of Syndicate Loan Collector Found in Car
Chicago police identified the dead man as Arthur Cowan 46 a reputed muscleman and loan collector for a crime syndicate. Coroner Dr Andrew J Toman said Cowan was shot five to seven days earlier and the bullet entered his head from a downward path. Cowan had been missing since July 5 after telling his wife he would meet associates on the South Side. Detectives found his car on the West Side near a restaurant that served as a syndicate head quarters for Lenny Patrick David Yarros and others for three decades.
