Grundy County studies communications system rollout plan
Region IV ILEC director Kurt Metzler announces a Grundy County communications study by Sachs Freeman at 4800 dollars, funded largely by a federal grant. The project, aiming to assess law enforcement fire and emergency radio systems and 911 feasibility, targets a countywide emergency center and a 24 hour call log. Three similar efforts are underway in nearby Kankakee County.

Early Morris Hospital Nursing School Graduates Remember iconic era
Barbara Wilson notes Morris Hospital School of Nursing began in 1907 with Lois Howe Sanford as first student. The school produced 104 graduates by 1953, and the Nurses' Alumnae, formed in 1917, funds hospital needs through bake sales and events. Nurses trained under Miss Amy Holtorf followed strict 12 hour shifts and on call duties.

Seek suspect in Kankakee murder case
Kankakee County sheriff's police searched Tuesday night for a young man with shoulder length hair whose car was stuck near a farmhouse west of the murder scene. Donald Snyder 47 was found shot four times in his car four miles south of town. No motive or suspects yet.

Car damaged crossing Rock Island tracks on Division St
Morris police report a 1968 Oldsmobile Toronado driven by Mrs. Emily Newton sustained over 100 dollars in damage when crossing the Rock Island tracks on Division Street. Exhaust system and rear bumper were torn off. This followed a prior incident on January 9 involving Mrs. Barbara Hladoveak and a ruptured gas tank with 195 dollars in damage.
