Fire destroys Channahon home. 11 year old girl dies
A fire at the Clifford Hinshaw residence on South Street in Channahon killed 11 year old Kimberly Lynn Hinshaw early today. Six other children escaped, some leaping from second floor windows into snow. Fire crews from Channahon Minooka and Troy battled the blaze, which gutted the two story house. Kimberly's body was found near an upstairs window and pronounced dead by local authorities. The cause is under investigation. The girl was in sixth grade and a Junior Girl Scout. The community has launched clothing drives for the family with donations requested at local addresses.
