Former President Lyndon Baines Johnson died in San Antonio at 6 the heart attack ended a career rising from Texas roots to Senate leadership to the presidency He will lie in state at the Capitol rotunda in Washington before a funeral in National City Christian Church and burial at the LBJ Ranch family cemetery in Texas The body will be flown to Washington with a full honor guard and a Wednesday procession to Capitol Hill followed by a Thursday service in Washington and return to Texas for burial.

Sixteen year old Dennis Holohan of Dwight Route 1 was listed in good condition at St. Joseph Hospital Joliet after gunshot wounds to the face chest and right hand from a .20 gauge shotgun during a hunting mishap Saturday near Dwight. He had first been treated at Morris Hospital before transfer. Coal City Police Chief Alan Conant was scheduled for surgery today at St. Joseph Hospital Joliet and was in Room 922.

Crash kills LaSalle girl in Grundy County
A 20 year old LaSalle woman Lynn M Howarth was killed in a car truck crash on Interstate 80 near Ridge Road Grundy County. Wayne A Mitchell 26 Lena driving a semi tried to avoid the Opel Kadet station wagon but could not. Their vehicles locked and veered into the median leaving the truck on its right side.

Local Morris Woman Burned In Basement Fire
A Morris woman sustained third degree burns to her neck and shoulders when a basement fire at the Sterritt home 752 West Jackson Street broke out while she was washing in the basement. The fire, caused by faulty wiring, was confined mainly to the basement. she was treated at Morris Hospital and released. Her husband alerted the Morris Volunteer Fire Department shortly after 11 a.m. Monday.
