Rural Braceville family left homeless by Braceville fire
A Wednesday fire destroyed a frame house on Huston Road near Illinois 53 in Braceville. Seven in the McConahay family fled with only the clothes on their backs and lost two pets. Fire crews remained on scene. cause undetermined. no injuries reported. A relief collection was under way.

Minooka Bus Collides With Car Injuring Twelve Students
A school bus carrying twelve Minooka High and Junior High students collided head on with a car on Ridge Road near U S 6 at 7 57 a m. Eight junior high and five high school students were injured though only minor. Both drivers were treated at St Joseph Hospital Joliet and released.

Channahon police arrest youth for burglary
Channahon police on Wednesday arrested a 15 year old youth for the burglary of Morris gas station on U. S. 6 and Trion Street. About 125 dollars in cash cigarettes and two walkie talkie units were taken. Entry was through a side window and the cigarette machine was damaged. The youth faces a 1:30 p.m. hearing at Will County Juvenile Court and may be linked to another village burglary.
