Arthur Leach, Morris Community High School board member, will not seek re election as his term ends this year. He cites press of other duties. Glenn Reeves is the only other candidate filed so far. Blizzard Rakes Western Plains Across Midwest and Northeast

A major blizzard slammed the western plains with heavy snowfall reaching 14 inches in Chadron and 8 foot drifts near Hays Kansas. Five Kansas highways were blocked and one near Fort Morgan Colorado. Bus Crash Drowns 38 Seated Riders In Kentucky River

Jorstad Sentenced to Two Years for Grand Theft

Jerald Jorstad, 24, formerly of Newark Illinois, was given a two year state reformatory term in Madison Wisconsin court on grand theft after admitting thefts of clothing and jewelry from a store where he worked last fall. He had previously served 60 days for reporting a fictitious heiress wife’s death in Madison from Asian flu.

Three Illinois Youths Held in Iowa on Burglary Case

Three youths from Illinois were held in Charles City Iowa for Illinois authorities over a burglary and auto theft. Wayne Eichstadt 21 and Randall Nesemeier 17 of Freeport and Donald Wickersham 21 of Monroe Wisconsin admitted stealing a car in Iona Illinois and taking 175 dollars in cash and checks from a Freeport night and day grocery store during a Tuesday night break in.
