JERUSALEM AP The Israeli Cabinet rejected an American invitation for Prime Minister Begin to attend a Camp David summit without Egyptian President Sadat. Begin said talks produced no progress and accused Egypt of hardening its position. He stated readiness to meet Carter to discuss peace and US relations while criticizing Egyptian proposals as inconsistent with Camp David. Foreign Minister Dayan said Khalil appears qualified to negotiate.

Pedestrian struck by pickup on Division and North Streets
A 62 year old man, Robert Kelly of 747 E. Jackson St, was hit by a westbound pickup driven by Gary Christensen 25, of 840 E. Chapin St, as he crossed Division and North Streets at 7 30 a m. He was taken by Grundy County Ambulance to Morris Hospital for observation. Police say Christensen stopped at the light then turned left and did not see the pedestrian. Charges are pending investigation.
