Theft reported from Eileen residence and separate vehicle burglary
Recreational and automobile equipment valued at 1030 dollars were stolen from a garage at 265 N. Second St. in Eileen after entry by prying the lock hasp. Items included a 740 dollar outboard motor a fuel tank a Coleman lantern a rod and reel and an electric motor. A CB radio was stolen from a Utica pickup Friday. Police also report an attempted kidnapping of psychiatrist Andrea Dotti in Rome as he left his office.

Godley arson case sentencing set for April 6
Three men faced federal charges after the April 15 firebombing of Sasa's Lounge in Godley. James Hogan and Henry Hollowell of Joliet were convicted on conspiracy unlawful possession and manufacture of explosives and firebombing. John Sweet of Braceville was convicted only of conspiracy. Sentencing could run up to 20 years for the bombing, five years for related counts. Jury selection began February 11.

A single engine Cessna 172 crashed into a two story Tinley Park home killing James A. Kott 51 the pilot and teacher at Gage Park High School and four students including Dale Kenny 15 Earl L. Smith 17 and Robert A. Schick 16 all of Chicago. The plane departed Midway Airport at 2 30 p m. Investigators will examine the wreck to determine the cause of the crash.

Water chlorination steps rise after state report in Morris
Nelson Matthews, trustee in charge of Eileen's water program, says additional chlorine has been added since a state report published Thursday. A pump and liquid chlorine facility were installed in 1973 and chlorination has continued but EPA limits of 1.5 ppm created a strong taste, so doses were reduced before later increases were made.
